Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Fair to our staff, respectful of every person we support.
What is Radiant Support's approach to equality and diversity?
Radiant Support is an ethnic minority-owned employer with a diverse care team. We treat everyone fairly, never discriminate on the grounds of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, plan care around each person's culture, faith, language and preferences, and recruit and develop staff on values and ability.
Who we are
Radiant Support is an ethnic minority-owned business with a diverse care team. We know from our own experience that different backgrounds, languages and cultures make care better, and that people receiving care should feel understood as well as looked after.
Our commitment
We treat everyone fairly and with respect, and we do not discriminate on the grounds of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
Equality in Practice
In the Care We Provide
Care plans respect culture, faith, language, diet and personal preferences, including the gender of carer for personal care, and are reviewed with the person.
Accessible Communication
We follow the Accessible Information Standard, recording and meeting each person's communication needs, whether that is large print, a family member present, or support with sensory impairment or a first language other than English.
As an Employer
Fair, open recruitment based on values and ability, equal access to training, supervision and progression, and reasonable adjustments for staff who need them.
Zero Tolerance
Harassment and discrimination are not accepted from colleagues, the people we support, their families or anyone else. Staff are supported when they raise a concern.
How we check we are getting it right
- Feedback from the people we support and their families, gathered through regular surveys and care reviews.
- Supervision conversations in which staff can raise any concern about fairness or treatment.
- Review of complaints and concerns for any pattern of discrimination.
- Annual review of our equality, diversity and inclusion policy by the Director.
Our equality, diversity and inclusion policy is signed by the Director and available on request.
Equality Questions
Can I ask for a carer of a particular gender?
Yes. We record your preference in your care plan and match carers accordingly wherever we can.
Do you support people whose first language is not English?
Yes. We record communication needs at assessment and adapt how we communicate, including involving family or other support where the person wishes.
