Social Value
Care that strengthens the community it serves.
What social value does Radiant Support deliver?
Radiant Support is a Corby-based, ethnic minority-owned SME that creates local jobs with training and a route into care careers, helps older and disabled adults stay independent at home, reduces loneliness, supports unpaid family carers and helps people leave hospital safely. We plan rounds to cut mileage, work digitally rather than on paper, pay suppliers promptly, and agree, measure and report social value on every public contract we deliver.

A Local Business, Rooted in North Northamptonshire
Radiant Support is an ethnic minority-owned small business, based at Corby Business Centre and employing its care team directly. Money spent with us stays in the local economy: our office, our carers and the families we support are all here.
Social value is not an add-on for a care provider. Done well, home care keeps people independent, keeps families working and caring, and takes pressure off the NHS. We plan and measure it in the same way we plan care.
Our Social Value Commitments
Set out against the themes public buyers use to evaluate social value.
Jobs, Skills and Fair Work
We recruit locally, including people new to care, and provide induction, shadowing, the Care Certificate and ongoing training, with progression into senior roles as we grow.
Equal Opportunity
As an ethnic minority-owned employer with a diverse team, we recruit fairly, value different backgrounds and remove barriers for people returning to work, changing career or entering the workforce for the first time.
Health and Wellbeing
Our care helps people stay safely at home, helps people leave hospital safely and can help prevent avoidable admissions, while companionship visits tackle loneliness and isolation.
Supporting Unpaid Carers
Respite and short-term care give family carers time to rest, work and look after their own health, and regular updates give them confidence that their relative is safe.
Stronger Communities
Our carers know local services and help people reconnect with community groups, activities, their GP and their pharmacy.
Fighting Climate Change
We build rounds to reduce travel between calls, keep records digitally, manage waste responsibly and have committed to Net Zero by 2050 at the latest.
What we measure on a contract
At mobilisation we agree a small set of measures with the commissioner. We choose measures we can evidence from our own records rather than estimates. Typical measures include:
- Number of local people employed on the contract, and the proportion living within North Northamptonshire.
- Number of new carers supported to complete the Care Certificate, and training hours delivered.
- Hours of care delivered, and the proportion of visits delivered on time, taken from the electronic care record.
- Hospital discharges supported, and the time from referral to first visit.
- Respite hours provided to give unpaid carers a break.
- Business mileage per hour of care delivered, as a measure of travel efficiency.
- Proportion of spend with local and small suppliers.
Reporting
Progress is recorded alongside our care data and reported to the commissioner at contract reviews, with the evidence behind every figure available on request. We only report what we can evidence.
Fair and prompt payment
As a small business ourselves, we know how much prompt payment matters. We pay our suppliers promptly and to agreed terms.
Working with commissioners
We are happy to align our commitments with a council's or ICB's own social value priorities, the Social Value Model used in central government procurement, and the local priorities set out in North Northamptonshire's plans.
