Modern Slavery Statement

A voluntary statement of our approach.

Does Radiant Support have a modern slavery statement?

Yes. Radiant Support Limited is below the turnover threshold that requires a statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, but publishes this statement voluntarily because the care sector carries real risks of labour exploitation. We employ our care staff directly, carry out right to work and Enhanced DBS checks, never charge recruitment fees, and train staff to recognise and report exploitation.

Why we publish this statement

Radiant Support Limited is below the turnover threshold that requires a statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We publish this statement voluntarily, because the care sector carries real risks of labour exploitation and we want commissioners, staff and families to know how we manage them.

Our business

We provide home care in Corby, Kettering and the surrounding Northamptonshire area. We employ our care staff directly and no longer use agency staff, keeping agency access for emergency cover only. Our main suppliers are care software, compliance, HR and health and safety support, insurance and office services.

Where the risks lie in care

We recognise that the main risks of modern slavery in adult social care come from recruitment: fees charged to workers, workers whose documents are held by someone else, debt linked to employment, and exploitation by third party recruiters or agencies. Our controls are designed around those risks.

Recruitment

  • Right to work checks on every employee before they start.
  • Enhanced DBS checks and references.
  • We never charge recruitment fees and never hold anyone's identity documents.
  • Contracts, pay and working hours are explained clearly and pay goes directly into each employee's own bank account.
  • Where we have used an agency in the past, every worker supplied had to provide right to work, DBS, training evidence, photographic ID and proof of address before deployment, and was set up on our own care and policy systems.

Supply chain

We use a small number of established, UK-based suppliers. We expect suppliers to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will review any relationship where we have concerns.

Training and reporting

Staff learn to recognise signs of modern slavery and exploitation as part of safeguarding training, both among colleagues and among the people we support. Concerns are reported to the Registered Manager and, where appropriate, to the police, the local authority or the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700.

How we check it is working

  • Every personnel file holds evidence of right to work, DBS and references before a start date is confirmed.
  • Staff complete safeguarding training that includes modern slavery at induction.
  • Any concern raised is recorded, investigated and reviewed by the Director.

Approval and review

This statement is approved by the Director of Radiant Support Limited and reviewed each year.
