Our Commitment to Net Zero

Net Zero by 2050 at the latest.

Has Radiant Support committed to Net Zero?

Yes. Radiant Support Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest, across Scope 1, Scope 2 and the Scope 3 emissions we report, in line with the UK Government's Net Zero target and the NHS ambition for a net zero health service. We are preparing a Carbon Reduction Plan in line with Procurement Policy Note 006.

Our commitment

Radiant Support Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest. The commitment is made by the Director and applies to the whole of our business.

Where our emissions come from

As a home care provider serving Corby, Kettering and the surrounding area, most of our impact comes from our carers' car journeys between care visits. The rest comes from energy used at our office, staff commuting and waste.

What Our Carbon Reduction Plan Covers

Scope 1

Direct emissions, such as any gas used at our office. We own or lease no company vehicles.

Scope 2

Electricity used at our office unit at Corby Business Centre.

Scope 3

Business travel in carers' own cars between visits, staff commuting, and waste, together with the other categories required by Procurement Policy Note 006 where they apply to us.

Method

Activity data from our visit scheduling records, mileage claims and office energy use, converted using UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors and reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

What we already do

  • Plan care rounds so carers visit people who live close together, reducing mileage between calls.
  • Keep care records fully digital and paperless.
  • Work digitally wherever we can, cutting printing and trips to the office.
  • Manage waste, including care waste, responsibly under our Environmental Sustainability Policy.

What we will do next

  • Record business and commuting mileage from our visit scheduling system every month.
  • Review round planning each quarter to reduce the miles driven for each hour of care.
  • Include fuel-efficient driving guidance in carer induction and supervision.
  • Obtain our office's energy use each year and ask whether a renewable electricity tariff is used.
  • Set an interim reduction target once our baseline is measured.

Measuring fairly as we grow

As a growing service, our total emissions may rise as we support more people. Alongside the total, we will report emissions per hour of care delivered each year, so that progress is shown fairly and growth never hides inefficiency.

Publication and review

Once the baseline is measured and approved by the Director, our full Carbon Reduction Plan will be published on this page, with a prominent link from our homepage. It will be reviewed and updated within six months of the end of each financial year.

Net Zero Questions

What is Procurement Policy Note 006?

It is the UK Government's policy on taking account of carbon reduction plans in the procurement of major contracts. It sets out the format for a Carbon Reduction Plan, including a Net Zero commitment, baseline and current emissions, and reduction measures.

Does this meet NHS requirements?

The NHS asks suppliers on smaller contracts to publish a Net Zero commitment, and suppliers on larger contracts to publish a full Carbon Reduction Plan. This page is our commitment, and our full plan will follow once our baseline is measured.
